  • We learned graphic design, web coding and other elements required to produce a website from scratch.

  • We also produced all the content displayed on the site. I covered stories on sports business, minorities in sports, changes over time in the sports world and recruiting.

​Student, Puka Mai Ka La (high school news), Honolulu, Hawaii: Jan. 2010 - May 2011

  • Anchored entire time while there, learned how to work with teleprompteres, wrote broadcast scripts, and learned how to conduct oneself on camera.

  • First semester: worked behind the  camera, rotating with classmates for all jobs that make a newscast run such as director, cameraman, producer, soundboard, graphics, switchboard, etc.

Work Experience

​Chili's Grill and Bar: June 2011 - May 2015

  • Waitress/hostess/busser/expo/trainer.

  • Started off as a hostess at both locations and worked my way up - Waikiki (permanently closed in 2015) in May of 2011, and Okemos in September of 2012.

  • Learned customer service, multi-tasking, time management, communication, teamwork, problem solving, and leadership.

  • Worked 30-40 hours a week in addition to being a full time student at Michigan State.

​What Up Dawg, East Lansing and Lansing, Mich.: Aug. 2013 - Dec. 2013

  • Waitress/bartender/cashier.

  • What Up Dawg? was a restaurant/bar in East Lansing and Lansing, Mich. The place permanently closed in 2015.

  • Most times closed the bar down with full cleaning duties as well as register close out.

  • Worked late nights and weekends.

  • Was one of five workers. Usually only 2-3 people worked a shift, one person the kitchen, and 1-2 people on the register and bar.

  • Worked 20-25 hours a week in addition to being a full time student at Michigan State.

  • Smoothie maker/cashier.

  • Worked part-time as a senior in high school.

  • Learned customer service, event planning, and the art of how non-profits work.

  • Volunteered for a total of 70 hours at the Honolulu International Airport location and 20 hours at outside events.

  • Maintained a clean welcome center, made sure guests were happy, and assisted military personnel.
